De voorstelronde met Kofi Baffo (NL + ENG)

In de voorstelronde wordt de gelegenheid gegeven aan een YGP-lid om zichzelf voor te stellen. In deze editie wordt de gelegenheid gegeven aan Kofi Baffo, een bestuurslid van YGP.

Over Kofi                                     

Kofi Baffo is een 34-jarige Senior Consultant (SAP Security Governance Risk & Compliance) (GRC)/ Project Manager en hij heeft een diploma in Information Engineering aan het Intituut for Information Engineering (IIE). Kofi is tevens bestuurslid van Stichting Pimp My Village, medeoprichter en eigenaar van Accra International Fashion week  in Ghana en mentor voor Hbo-studenten.

Beroep

‘Ik had voor Information Engineering gekozen, omdat de opleiding erg bijzonder was. Wij kregen drie dagen per week les en de overige twee dagen zaten wij bij bedrijven op project basis. Vanaf de tweede  tot en met het vierde jaar werd er verwacht dat er ieder half jaar een nieuw project bij een andere bedrijf werd gestart. Dit creëerde veel werkervaring tijdens de studie en dat vond ik erg aantrekkelijk.’

‘Mijn werk is heel afwisselend. Ik ben een IT consultant en doe projecten voor bedrijven.  Mijn werkzaamheden zijn afhankelijk van de vraag van het bedrijf. Momenteel ben ik met IT Audit werkzaamheden bezig voor ZUIT, een klein bedrijf in Arnhem . Daarvoor zat ik twee jaar bij Heineken International om een IT Control/Audit tool te implementeren.’

Motivatie

 ‘Als geboren Ghanees zie ik het als een kans om in Nederland te studeren en een carrière te maken. Hierdoor laat ik geen kansen onbenut. Een levensmotto waarop ik altijd terug val is: "the best way to predict your future is to start now" . Ik denk als je in de toekomst nog comfortabel/succesvol/vervuld wilt leven dan kan je beter nu hard werken en goed met je tijd omgaan.Verloren tijd is namelijk niet in te halen. Op dit moment is mijn hobby: tijd spenderen met mijn twee prachtige zoontjes.  Maar daarnaast ben ik altijd wakker te maken voor een potje basketbal of een spannende NBA wedstrijd.’

Over 10 jaar

‘Over 10 jaar hoop ik dat mijn carrière  met mij is meegroeit en dat ik een succesvol ondernemer ben in Ghana, ons moederland.’

Over YGP

‘Ik vind dat YGP een erg goed initiatief is wat op lange termijn een belangrijke rol kan spelen in de Ghanese gemeenschap in Nederland. Ik geloof dat de huidige generatie meer professionals produceert. Het is daarom van belang dat wij elkaar kunnen vinden en onze kennis en ervaringen delen, zodat de aankomende generaties generatie nog beter werk kan leveren.’

About Kofi

Kofi Baffo (34 years) is a Senior Consultant (SAP Security Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC)/ Project Manager with a degree in Information Engineering at the Institute of Information Engineering (IIE).  Kofi is also a board member of Pimp My Village foundation, co-founder and owner of Accra International fashion Week in Ghana and mentor for Higher Education students (also known as HBO-studenten).

Motivation

“As a Ghanaian born, I regard studying in the Netherlands as an opportunity to pursue a successful career. This motivates me not to waste any opportunities.”

Occupation

“I chose for Information Engineering, because during this course, we received lectures three days a week. During the remaining two days, we worked on projects for companies. From the second till the fourth year, it was obliged to start a new project at a new company every six months. This made room for working experience during the course. To me, this made this course attractive for me to follow.”

 “The content of my job is based on the requirements of the company I work for. At the moment I do IT audit for ZUIT, a small company in Arnhem. I worked at Heineken International for two years prior to implement an IT Control Audit tool.

Motivation

As a Ghanaian born, I seized the opportunity to study in the Netherlands and still make a career for myself. Therefore, I don’t let opportunities pass me by. A motto that I primarily use in life is: "the best way to predict your future is to start now". I think that if you want to live comfortably, successful and fulfilled in the future, it’s best to work hard now while allocating your time properly. My hobbies are spending time with my two beautiful sons, but you can wake me up anytime to play basketball or to watch and exciting NBA match. “

In 10 years

“In the coming 10 years I hope to grow my career to a successful one, in which I will be an entrepreneur in Ghana, our motherland.”

About YGP

“I believe that YGP is a good initiative which can play an important role to the Ghanaian community in the Netherlands on long term. I believe that the current generation produces more professionals and it is therefore important that we can find each other and share our knowledge and experiences, so that the coming generation perform better jobs. “
